Hardening a Live Storefront and Pivoting It Mid-Season
A full-scale audit and SEO-first pivot for a Bangladesh D2C fruit retailer -- closing a live price-tampering vulnerability, rebuilding the checkout and inventory pipeline, and repositioning the entire storefront from single-season mangoes to a year-round dry fruits, honey, and dates catalog, without taking the site offline.
What They Were Up Against
Book My Fruit launched as a seasonal mango marketplace for the Bangladesh market, but the business model had an expiration date built in -- mango season lasts a few months a year, and the site had no story for the rest of the calendar. Under the hood, a full audit surfaced a serious problem: order pricing was resolved client-side, meaning a manipulated request could check out at any price. Delivery fees were calculated in two places that could drift out of sync, phone number formats weren't normalized between order creation and lookup, and the sitemap had a malformed XML entity that was silently blocking search engines from indexing product pages. With mango season ending, the business needed a working, trustworthy checkout and a completely repositioned homepage -- fast, and without downtime on a live revenue-generating site.
How We Built It
We ran a full-codebase audit first, using multiple independent review passes to separate real bugs from noise, then fixed what mattered: order pricing now resolves entirely server-side against the live database, rejecting out-of-stock items and validating every field before a transaction is created. Delivery fee logic was consolidated into a single shared module used by checkout, product pages, and the order API, so the free-delivery threshold is a fact, not a coin flip. Phone numbers are normalized consistently at every entry point. The sitemap's XML-escaping bug was fixed and validated against the actual build output. With the platform stable, we rebuilt the homepage, category pages, and product schema around dry fruits, honey, and dates -- new JSON-LD structured data with real availability, shipping, and return-policy fields, new copy and imagery, and a live product catalog migration -- all shipped to production the same week mango season ended, with zero missed orders. We followed it with a written growth plan targeting trust signals (verified reviews, transparent policies, structured data) as the next lever for organic and AI-search visibility.
Impact by the Numbers
Built With
“Devstead didn't just build our site -- they audited it, caught a live price-tampering bug we didn't know we had, and rebuilt our entire SEO strategy overnight when mango season ended. Most agencies would've needed a month and a maintenance window. We got both without losing a single order.”
